The UCSF Urology Practice provides leading-edge care for a range of noncancerous conditions involving the urinary tract or reproductive organs.

Some of our programs and services include:

  • The Urinary Stone Center, the only program in Northern California to offer ultrasound-guided, radiation-free treatment for complex urinary stones, a safer and more effective approach than X-ray-based treatments. We also perform minimally invasive removal of kidney stones.
  • Minimally invasive procedures for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia.
  • Robotic and minimally invasive surgery for ureteral reconstruction and correction of ureteropelvic junction obstruction.
  • Gender-affirming surgical care, including feminizing procedures (vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty, orchiectomy and related revisions) and masculinizing procedures (metoidioplasty, scrotoplasty, urethroplasty, and penile or testicular implants).
  • Specialized care for neurogenic bladder (loss of bladder control due to neurological conditions).
  • Surgical repair of the genitals and urinary tract following traumatic injuries, a specialty our surgeons are nationally known for.
  • The Women's Center for Bladder and Pelvic Health, offering robotic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Procedures are performed by urologists with specialty training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
  • Xiaflex injections to treat Peyronie's disease. Xiaflex is the only nonsurgical treatment for Peyronie's disease approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and we are the only center in Northern California to offer it.
  • Fertility preservation treatments tailored to the individual.
